For those of you that don’t know- the NYC marathon was yesterday! I personally decided a while ago that I’m not looking to run it for the next few years but I still went down and did some cheering on! I couldn’t get as close to the action as I wanted by I got in down at the 26th mile marker by Columbus Circle.
I have to say it was inspiring! Here are 40k amazing people from all around the world who have worked in some cases for several years for this moment. Everyone from top sponsored athletes to the guy that ran by in the t-shirt that said “Heart transplant survivor December 2009” was out there putting their all into every step. Each person running had their own personal reason for being out there and each person has made a commitment to excellence and accomplishment that has been unwavering. To watch it all culminate in that last .2 mile stretch yesterday for all these people was amazing!
Congratulations to all of you who got out there and ran it!
Hey Kris! Where the #&@% have you been?!
OK, OK! I know I’ve been slacking and I do owe you all an explanation as I’ve had quite a few people write me lately asking me why I’ve been absent for the last few weeks. If you wrote me and I haven’t yet gotten back to you I do apologize. I am making an effort to answer all of you personally.
Honestly I stopped writing for a few reasons but the main one is that I was simply burnt out. This blog can be quite time consuming and I’ve recently taken on several other writing obligations. It had come to the point I was spending all of these final days of beautiful fall weather miserably locked inside on my computer. I found my writing suffering and decided it was time to recharge a bit.
Also lending to my distraction is that I’ve been spending some time with a girl I met a few months ago that I really like a lot. She keeps me on my toes like few people have and I’m really enjoying the time we’re spending together. With any luck, you’ll be hearing more about her in the future J
So now what?
It’s time to get to get down to business! I have found quite a few topics stored away now to write about including an entire series on agriculture and genetic modification that will have most people throwing out almost everything in their cabinets but that will be on the back burner for a little while. Instead, I want to do something a little closer to me right now. Since the purpose in this blog is to help people really get to know fitness, I’m going to start at the very beginning in a way I’ve never seen done before. I’m going to let you all behind the scenes on what it takes to be a personal trainer. Here’s what I mean…
I’ve decided to pick up a new training certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine to add to my value as a writer and personal trainer. It’s about $600 to take the exam so I’m going to go through all the books and everything and be absolutely sure that I’ll pass it the first time around.
I cracked the book the other day and began taking notes before getting beat over the head with an idea. Why take notes just for my benefit when I know that so many of you could benefit from this valuable information? So, instead of taking notes for myself I’m going to condense it all into blog posts for all of you to read and learn from. Also included will be my personal commentary as I feel that all fitness information should be seen from multiple perspectives. So if you’re interested in learning the same information the pro’s use, stick around because I’m going to be spilling it all!
As for me right now, it’s gym time! I hope everyone has a great day and you can look forward to the start of these new posts tomorrow!
Until next time,
